Bring on the Heat! - Are you prepared?

With Hurricane Lane subsiding and providing interim relief, the Ring of Fire has become a reality in the form of an extended summer in some parts of the country. Yes, extended Heat is a weather-related issue and according to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration averages the most deaths in the country among all other weather-related disaster.

If you are living in one of the cities where the summer is still lingering, ensure you stay safe and protected. Extreme Heat can kill. Follow the below steps for precaution:

If you must be outdoors :

  • Wear a sunscreen with a strong SPF protection, despite our beliefs, sunburn can be painful and sometimes result in permanent damage to your skin.
  • Wear loose-fitting clothes, comfortable clothes.
  • Always stay hydrated - Water - lots of it is the Mantra!
  • Do not leave pets or children in the vehicles unattended.

If you are indoors :

  • Cover windows and doors with heavy drapes to block sunlight as much as possible.
  • Use temporary window reflectors - aluminium foil-covered card-boards to reflect the heat outside.
  • Ensure you have a steady and solid supply of water and keeping yourself hydrated is the goal.
  • Avoid any kind of extreme physical exertion as it can cause fatigue.
