Is Crisis Preparedness about Fear?

Occasionally, I'll hear a comment that survivalism or preparedness is all about fear of the future ... coming from someone who is obviously VERY comfortable in their insulated little world.

I'm sure others too get this from those around them who just don't get it.

My response is usually curt and to the point ...

"Readiness is quite simply a healthy respect for risk; and a desire to take full responsibility for all potential personal outcomes."

If you think about that, it's true, and probably is at least partially descriptive of the character of our forefathers who built this nation into the greatest example of independence and self-reliance the world has ever known.
