It's at least a gesture that whispers, "We will take back control."
It's been over 25 years since I last had a garden. So I've been reacquainting myself with the earthy knowledge required to nurture and harvest nutritional treasures.
MANY others in our neighborhood are also putting in new gardens. It's a movement, I tell you.
Ah, you too - excellent! I started last July; it has been major work (had to remove eight 40-year old oleanders and dig up ~25 ft of old septic system leach line). I'm in a warmer climate zone, too, which means some new challenges. But this time around it also seems like more plants and seeds are readily available, especially from Net sources. Eventually I hope to transition to a hydroponic setup. Incidentally, I've noticed increased interest in "pick your own" farms and local agricultural sources.
